Gite de la Borde is part of a spacious farmhouse in a small rural village 5km north of Foix. It sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms. We also offer bed and breakfast. It is one hour from the airports of Toulouse and Carcassonne. It is an ideal base from which to explore the region's Cathar castles, prehistoric caves, mediaeval towns and markets and thermal spas, or from which to enjoy the fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities for which the Ariege is renown. You can walk, hike, climb, cycle - the 2009 Tour de France passes within a few miles on 11th July - mountain bike and more. In winter there is downhill and cross-country skiing within 45 minutes, as well as snow-shoeing and dog-sledging. The owners (who live in the adjoining property) are outdoor professionals who will welcome the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and experience with you. They have two small children and Gite de la Borde is suited to families with children or groups.
